New Zealand Fashion Week, real wedding.

Hi lovelies! I’ve not been here for long time, omg, I could hardly imagine, I missed so much about all of you and my blog:).

All these weekend I’ve been at New Zealand Fashion week and it was one really great surprise I was one of the other witnesses of real gay wedding at Annah Stretton’s show this Saturday, it was completely unexpectedly.  Why would Annah want to marry two lesbian women as her show on the catwalk of New Zealand Fashion Week. The gay marriage has been legislated recently in New Zealand, only this year and  this wedding become a message around choice which Annah believes all women should have.  Given that Annah wanted the show to have a message, Australia become a logical target as they had yet to enact the marriage equality  laws and appeared a long way from doing so. Therefore Annah ran a competition to find two Australian girls to marry on the catwalk as her show for NZ Fashion Weekend. Nicole and Brooklyn were chosen (an Australian and an American) after much deliberation as competition had some great entries. They were a perfect fit for the fashion show and enabled the show to carry the message to America where there are still several states that do not recognize gay unions. They also facilitated the show to send another message … that gay women are not the result of a female in a man’s body, or several failed relationships with men. They are simply born that way and therefore should absolutely be allowed to get on with living and loving each other in the same way as any other couple.

It was real wedding with real tears, real kisses and hugs, real rings and real wills. I was highly impressed and will remember. I wish all the best to these two brave women, who are not afraid to go against of society and their norms.

I’m very grateful to Annah for such unique opportunity.

i agree that people (whatever the gender or tastes) should be free to come together and being legally recognised, enjoying the same rights as “normal” couples.

  2. Lovely posting 🙂 I hope that one day this becomes the norm…!!

  8. wow sounds like you witnessed a really unique event! It’s not going to happen anytime soon here in Australia.. with the new govt and all.. :/

  10. Congrats for this post. I am totally supporting human rights and I support people who want to leave together for a reason.
